HELLO.......

It is really a pretty day....finally. Not quite so hot...I have already been to the dump this morning which I have been needing to do. Glad to get that done...Yesterday David and I sat out in the big room for the afternoon. I worked on weaving table runners and David put together 2 spinning wheels that came in last week. One is the Prelude. It is so cute. It is in a clear finish. $440.00 plus tax. Then the other is the Minstrel in a clear finish. It is $ 565.00 plus tax...Both are really nice wheels...
Well, I got this started and David just called and took off work for the afternoon to cut hay. He asked what was for lunch so I better go do something. I have about 45 minutes...

Rain, Rain

I am just trying to remember how hot the summer was w/ no rain....I am thinking all this rain is washing stuff off but now I am saying quit cause it will mold & rot everything!!!!

I have a wall in my living room with pictures that are little sayings. I found a new one this week...".Tomorrow is not promised so live today at the best"....I may go back and get 3 or 4 of them and set them all over the place...Oh, Me...I do like that.

Well, we just got back from a small show at a Spring garden show...Very well done and met lots of nice people.

I just made some blueberry muffins ...Em likes them. She will have something to snack on later this evening when she comes in.

Looks like I am going to get rounded up and go to Tx week after next. Not sure who is going with me...Heck, who knows...Just may take sheep...

I am going to head out to the barn and maybe unload a little of the trailer...

Finally, a Beautiful Weekend!!!

We've finally got a full weekend where we can go outside and get a lot of work done. We've spent most of the day working on the shop to try to get it ready so we can finally put our wares on display. David's gotten the old window out before he had to go look at a square baler for the farm. He liked what he saw so now the farm has a new 1960 John Deere 14T square hay baler. No more messing with those pesky round bales that are hard to handle and stack. From the looks of it David should be able to get the new window installed and we can finish the final wall to the new Rooster's Run Farm store. That's all for now and I hope to have some new pictures of the store shortly.

It's Been Awhile

Boy the last few months have just flown by...We did several festivals, NAILE in November, the very next week went to French Lick til Thanksgiving Eve. Been busy ever since. With the weather we have been feeding some grain along with lots of hay. The rest of the time is spent filling up water buckets....

We have all our breeding just about finished. We are breeding 2 last Finn ewes & 2 more goats... All the goatie girls are looking great in full fleece. Now is when you see what you really have.

I have sent off a load of wool for felting roving. Usually takes a couple weeks to get back. I am working on a load of kid and lamb cut for more yarn...

We have been working on our milk house building everyday. I am lining up my orders to get in a wider variety of Kromski wheels and looms. Will carry warp threads, drum carders, crochet hooks, knitting needles, weaving supplies & more.

We will be at Farmers Market in May. Used 2010 to try to catch up with ourselves...So looking forward to getting back to market in 2011...

Just checked the weather this evening...I can not believe it looks like another storm is coming...Everytime one comes I try to give it the benifit and say oh, it will warm up next week. Guess the joke is on me....You have to look at the positive. Everything that didn't get washed last summer because of no rain is now getting that wash...But kinda like I used to tell my Mom, everything is fixing to rot it has had water on it so long...

ANOTHER DAY IN THE OVEN OF SUMMER...

Terry Donica called & asked if I had time to help her sort some llama fiber. We got at it this morning. Kinda interesting. My first experience of sorting the hair out...of the fiber that is...We got that done with some good ole visiting...Stopped and went to town and ate lunch and came back and finished the last bit. She should have a nice amount to work with.

The last week I have spent all my time behind the water hose and bucket refilling. If not there been helping with hay...We got another nice load in...We have our fingers crossed for one more good load...before winter...

We haven't gotten rain in several days. Between here and Salem they got a good shower we noticed on our way home. Orleans got dumped on this evening & we told it to move on down just didn't listen...I got out and gave lots of plants one more drink of water...I have planted 8 new fruit trees in the spring. I just hope they are getting enough water...

My young goats are looking so good. Really nice curl conformation. Lady Brown is so hot. She gets as close as she can to the fans. I keep telling her to hang in there. I don't won't to shear her for another Month or so...

I watched the weather. They say SALEM SHOULD GET RAIN AROUND 10 tonight. I have about 18 bags of mohair sorted out & ready to wash. I left them out hoping the rain may do the first rinse anyway...I can't wait to get the fleece washed. It should be a good load of doll curls...

Gotta go get busy
